Victory in our sport's biggest race...

01/27/2009 — So it's Tuesday, 24 hours after standing in victory lane in Daytona. It still doesn't seem real when I think to myself that in only my 5th trip to the Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona, I'm leaving with the race winner's Rolex watch. After what was a difficult few years for me personally in stock car racing, I made the decision to return to the form of racing that I am most passionate about, road racing. This year's Rolex 24 would mark the first race of my return and to win it is something that is amazing, special, a little unreal, but most of all I am relieved. I have a great team this year in TRG and a great teammate in Andy Lally. But the effort at Daytona was the result of a lot of hard work by a lot of people. First of all, Kevin and Debra Buckler have worked tirelessly to put together a tremendous effort and allowing me the opportunity to drive the 67 car is something I am deeply appreciative of. The 67 crew guys, including Robin, Brock, and Butch worked hard, never gave up, and performed flawlessly in their preparation, strategy, pit stops and execution. They deserve this win as much as anyone else. My teammates Patrick, Andy, Joerg, and RJ were incredible. I am in awe of the talent, achievements, and work ethic of each of them. I am especially happy for RJ who, after 23 years of trying to win this race, finally got his victory at 64 years young. And last but not least, everyone at TRG, all the crew guys, everyone in the office and at the shop who dedicate themselves to doing their job effectively and with enthusiasm. Accomplishments like this are the result of a dedicated group of individuals united by a single goal. The race went like clockwork and everyone did just a fantastic job. For me, being able to deliver the win to my family, my sponsors, and my friends is the ultimate way for me to say thank you for all the support and love through thick and thin. I believe this is just a hint of things to come and my renewed enthusiasm has me already running laps in my head for the next race. We won the Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona! Thank you, thank you, thank you. Justin
