VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - Mitchum Motorsports has signed NASCAR Camping World Truck Series regular Justin Marks to co-drive with Lawson Aschenbach in the 2011 GRAND-AM Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge season finale at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course on Saturday, Sept. 17.
Marks and Aschenbach will co-drive the No. 6 GoPro Chevrolet Camaro in the two-hour, 30-minute race.
Marks has five victories in the Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge. His eight victories in the Rolex Series include GT honors with TRG in the 2009 Rolex 24 At Daytona. He has 34 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series starts, and eight races in the NASCAR Nationwide Series.
"Justin's experience racing stock cars combined with his winning road racing background in GRAND-AM GT and GS class cars will be a perfect fit," team principal Chris Mitchum said. "He and Lawson have proven they can get the job done, and we think this will add just the spark the team needs to finish on the podium."
Marks drives the No. 66 GoPro Chevrolet Silverado for Turn One Racing in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series. He has competed in all 12 races this year, with two top-10 finishes and the pole position at Dover International Speedway.
"GoPro is a huge supporter of mine in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series and it's going to be great bringing them into a new racing environment," Marks said. "I know the GoPro Camaro is going to be fast. Lawson and I are great friends and we've been trying to find a way to race together for a few years now, so hopefully this will be the first race in a successful driving partnership."
