Amazing Team Effort Goes into Marks Bristol Debut

08/21/2008 — Crocs Tundra has Up and Down Bristol Run Bristol, TN (08-21-2008) – Justin Marks had his second-best qualifying effort of the season in his first-ever visit to Bristol Motor Speedway. He earned fifth place in the starting lineup in the 36-truck field for the Crocs Tundra. When it came time for the green flag, however, Marks started at the rear for Wednesday night’s O’Reilly 200. The young driver from Rocklin, CA, crashed in his second lap of qualifying and had to go to a backup truck. The effort turned into an awesome display of teamwork by Germain Racing’s no. 9 Crocs Tundra and no. 30 Lumber Liquidators Tundra teams. “The guys did an awesome job pulling together to get the Crocs Tundra backup ready. It was an all out, tremendous team effort and it was as smooth as it could go. Qualifying began at 4:15 p.m., the boys had the backup truck fired up and running by 5:00 pm. The guys really pulled together for this,” said Mike Hillman Sr., general manager for Germain Racing. After making a few trips to pit road early in the race to get adjustments to Crocs Tundra, Marks was on the lead lap, running as high as 15th place, with 50 laps remaining. He was the second-highest ranked Raybestos Rookie of the Year contender and he was in a back-up truck. “Bristol is so fast, so tight. I love the track, but there’s no margin for mistakes. We learned that in qualifying and almost made it out of Bristol without crash damage to our backup truck. Unfortunately we were the victim of someone else’s impatient mistake with about 50 to go. The front of the Crocs Tundra was torn up and we finished 22nd. It’s such a disappointment after all the hard work the guys put into our run tonight,” said Marks. Marks and crew head next to Gateway International Raceway with the no. 9 Construct Corps Tundra. Marks was born in St. Louis, MO, and looks forward to seeing lots of family at the race track. Germain Racing earned the 2006 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series championship. The team has earned six pole awards and 14 victories in Truck Series competition since its first race at Richmond in 2004.
