Marks 16th at Dover

05/31/2008 — Marks Has Exciting Debut at Dover Dover, DE (05-31-2008) – Justin Marks said Dover International Speedway made a big impression on him when he made his first laps in the no. 9 Germain Motor Company Tundra on Thursday. The Raybestos Rookie of the Year contender ranked 10th fastest after the first practice session, earning fastest rookie honors. He was 14th fastest after final practice and qualified 7th. Marks enjoyed the track, but learned why the concrete mile has been named the “Monster Mile.” Marks finished 16th in the AAA Insurance 200 on Friday. “I’d never been to Dover International Speedway before but it’s a really, really awesome racetrack. You’ve got to drive the thing off into the corner a little bit beyond your comfort level and hope it sticks. The Germain Motor Company Tundra was fast through much of the weekend, but we had some struggles when it came time to racek,” said Marks. “I made some contact with another truck early in the race and kind of made it hard for the no. 9 Germain Racing crew to help me with handling issues through the trace. We fought through it and came away with a decent finish.” Marks was quick to take the blame for the handling issues he experienced during the 200-lap race and he understands why Dover can be a track drivers can love to hate. “After running 200 laps, I understand why the place is called the Monster Mile. I loved it through both practice sessions, thought it was great through qualifying, then found myself struggling to get the Germain Motor Company Tundra to turn throughout the race. When your truck isn’t handling right, the track is a monster to deal with,” said Marks. After eight races, Marks is tied for second in the Rookie of the Year standings and sits 17th in Truck Series points. Germain Racing next races at Texas Motor Speedway. Germain swept the two Truck Series races at Texas in 2007 and the team has collected five victories at the Fort Worth track since the team first raced there in 2004.
