Marks Returning to Texas

06/02/2008 — #9 Justin Marks, Construct Corps Tundra Mooresville, NC (06-02-2008) – Justin Marks, driver of the no. 9 Construct Corps Tundra for Germain Racing will run his second NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series at Texas Motor Speedway this weekend. Marks and crew chief Jason Overstreet will look to the notes they have accumulated from racing Atlanta, Lowe’s and Texas together in hopes that they can find the right combination for success in the Lone Star state. “Texas Motor Speedway is fast and it’s kind of a unique animal. Charlotte, Texas, and Atlanta are all very different race tracks – they are the same length and they are shaped similarly, but they are very different,” said Marks, of Rocklin, CA. “Texas just has really big transitions from the straightaways to the corners so the sensation of speed is pretty big because you’ve got to do a lot getting into the corners. It makes it fun but it’s fast and it can bite you in a hurry.” Marks won’t lean much on what he learned in last fall’s Texas race when he returns this week. “Last year, I think more than anything else, I just learned about the race track. I was so new when we raced there last fall, that I think that there won’t be much from the setups that transfers,” said Marks. “I’d say what we’ve learned this year at Atlanta and Charlotte will make more of a difference. The fact that I’ve been to Texas will just shorten the learning curve for me when we go out for practice.” Crew chief Jason Overstreet concurs that the fall race at Texas won’t help much this week. “We had a broken gear last year, so what Justin did was basically make laps and collect seat time. Atlanta and Charlotte will help him more for Texas than our race there last fall,” said Overstreet. The Construct Corps Tundra that’s lined up for Marks to drive has been a good truck this year. “We’re taking a Tundra that Todd just tested for us at Chicago. Todd said it drove good and he liked it. We’ve wiped it off and loaded it up for Texas,” said Overstreet, who added that the chassis also raced at Kansas where Marks finished 11th and the Tundra had a successful test at Pocono Raceway earlier in the year. Germain Racing has won two or more races each year for a total of 14 wins. Along with the victories, the team has earned 4 Bud Pole awards, 56 top-five and 85 top-ten finishes and led 1360 laps in 169 Truck Series races. For more information visit www.germainracing.com.
